Indra Patra Wall

A fortress remains the first Hindu Kingdom in Aceh still you can see up to this point near the coast of Ujong Batee Village, sub-district Ladong, Masjid Raya, Aceh Besar Regency. The Fort is situated on the Bay of Krueng Raya and dealing with the fortress of Inong Balee which lies in the hills on the other side. Uniquely to reach the inside of the Fort was then you need toclimb up with a ladder in advance or that has been provided.

The fortress of Indra Patra is part of 3 forts in the Trail of Aceh lhee Sagoe. Lhee Sagoe Aceh trail is the area that connects the three relics of Hindu-Buddhist period in Aceh. If all three are linked (Indrapatra, Indrapuri and Indrapurwa) then will forma triangle and also called lhee Sagoe Aceh Trail.

The castle was built in Patra senses to 7th century A.d. by the son of King Har'sha of the Kingdom Was, that the first Hindu Kingdom in Aceh (Indra Patra) before the arrival of Islamic influence. The position of the Fort was strategic because it dealtdirectly with the Malacca Strait thus serves as a stronghold of Portuguese fleet attacks.

The fortress of Indra Patra are large and made of stone mountain as thick as 2 meters. Adhesive wall fortification is estimated to be a mixture of lime, clay, egg whites, and the collision of shells. At the time of Sultanate of Aceh Darussalam,the Fort was used as a defense of the Portuguese fleet.

It is possible the fortress was instrumental in facing the Portuguese fleet who want to enter Aceh via Gulf of krueng raya. In the Gulf Coast area of the dimuara River krueng raya, there is also a Fort named Fort other Iskandar Muda.

The great fortress-sized 70 x 70 metres 3 metres tall. There is a large sturdy measuring 35 x 35 metre-tall 4 meters. Next tothe main fortress in there are 2 wells are sheltered by dome shaped building.

Around the Fort is still a lot of Foundation-the Foundation of other vague shape and the collapse caused by natural conditions. Restoration of the Fort was never performed after the tsunami in Aceh in 2004. Now the Regional Office of Ministry of national education in Aceh continued to renovate the fortress.
