The temple is called Bahal Indonesia by the society is the largest temple complex in the province of North Sumatra, because the temple complex covers arealnya Bahal Bahal I, II and III Bahal. The entire temple complex in the third buildingmade of brick red, except the statue-statue made of hard stone. Each temple complex is surrounded by a high fence andthick about 1 m which is also made of red brick. On the eastern side there is a gate that jutted out and in the right and left lanked by walls as high as about 60 cm. Bahal Temple stands on the river Rods Pane. Of the various theories developed, the possibility of the river Rods Pane once a traffic trade. Estimated originally forest in the upper reaches of the river is able to provide sufficient water supplies. However, now volume is small, shallow, and impossible so transportation facilities.

Archaeologists Germany F.M. Schinitger 1935 researching this temple a Tanjore inscription Tamil language and was madeby the King of Chola of South India the year 1030. This King conquered Pannai refer note I-tsing. Schinitger concludes this temple relates to Buddhist Wajrayana flow with different Buddhism now. It is particularly harsh, seemingly looking at thestatue of a giant-faced with a gloomy facial. Similarly, relief on temple walls depicting a giant dancing with tandawa dance.Hard typical, ruthless, and tend to close at ceremonies that sadistic. This is confirmed by information from some writings on the Golden plates or stones were found.

In the ruins of a temple statue of Heruka Bahal II was discovered, the only type of statue of its kind in Indonesia. His verysadistic with a pile of skulls and giant that was danced on top of the bodies. Bambang Budi Utomo, a researcher with the National Archaeological Research Center write in Kompas, Friday, September 23, 2005, "the right hand (giant) was elevated to the top while holding a vajra while the left hand is in front of the chest while holding a bowl of human cranium."

In Buddhist Wajrayana flow there is a ceremony of the Surmang Foundation described as sadistic actions which are notseparated from the corpse and liquor. There are also ceremonies bhairawa performed above ksetra, place heaping dead bodies before it burned. In this place they meditate, danced, foretells a spell, burned body, drinking blood, and giggling all the while issuing a dengus such as Buffalo. The goal to be wealthy, longevity, mighty, immune, can disappear, and heal the sick. To make it more Milky, they repeatedly merapal the name Buddha or Bodhisattva. It is believed the people in Padang Lawas Wajrayana to create a feeling of calm or gets a miracle born again of the powers of the Gods worshiped (the concept of reincarnation).

Now the grass meets the temple area and it's a shame less well maintained Temple. The temple is surrounded by a vast, barren desert weeds, and is often used for grazing livestock. As the plant peneduh plant balakka, usually used to sheltershepherds from sunburn. Though the building is still good, but on the temple walls are made of red brick that is full of graffiti.

Even though it is a tourist area of history, not seen strung food stalls or souvenir in the vicinity. Surrounding communities, knowing there is a complex of enshrinement but the daily said no visitors. Understandable because public transport to this relatively rare temple complex and time consuming.

Candi Bahal itself already officially serve as tourist attractions by the Government. This place is crowded only on certain occasions such as holidays, Widths, or new year. Visitors are villagers around the field and Alternating Barumun. The final condition of the road leading to the temple is muddy and not well maintained
